About The Workshop

BAD ACADEMY X HIVE CLIMBING & FITNESS - Gym to Crag

With Summer right around the corner, we're getting ready to be in the great outdoors as often as possible by packing away our raincoats and getting our climbing gear ready! Bad Academy and The Hive are bringing back the sell-out climbing program Gym to Crag for the third year in a row to get you ready to transition from bouldering indoors to outdoors! Climbing is intimidating as it is, but climbing outside?! Sheesh. We know it's scary and there are so many things to know when it comes to etiquette, technique, and safety which is why we designed this program just for you.

In this is an 8-week course, we're going to help you transfer your climbing skills to the world of Squamish granite and beyond! Fairly new to climbing in general? No problem at all. All climbing abilities are welcome, and we'll get you on rocks faster than the Grand Wall parking lot fills up on a weekend ;)

Come join us for another amazing opening to the glorious climbing season alongside other Bad Climbers as we transform you from a gym rat to a crag dad!

Topics that will be taught during the program:

  • Translating bouldering skills from indoor to outdoor
  • Footwork (Basic AND Advanced)

Women and Gender-non-conforming people who want to learn how to boulder outdoors

What ability or level of climbing do I have to be to join?

No experience necessary! We've put complete newbies through the program with no problems. More advanced climbers will still get focused attention from our coaches when it comes to translating their skills to the outdoors.

What if I have to miss a class or two?

No worries! We'll be happy to fill you in on what you missed in class, and we'll all be staying in touch via a private group chat to share knowledge, climbing sessions, and beta!

Can I still join if I've done Gym to Crag before?

Absolutely. We have had many Gym-to-Craggers come back to the program. It's a great refresher and way to get in shape/stay accountable!

Do you have to be a Hive member to join?

No! In fact, if you are not a member, you will get a FREE Ultimate membership with your admission to the program! Sweet!

Do I need climbing gear to join?

Nope! Rentals are included and outdoor climbing gear will be provided.

I have more questions!
