Ready to rock?! We’ve teamed up with Squamish guiding legend Kinley Aitken for a fun-filled 2-day women/GNC-people-only climbing camp aimed to teach you everything you need to know about the basics of climbing ropes outside in one of the most beautiful climbing destinations in the world: Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish, BC)
Here at the Bad Academy, we embrace people who are Bad at things, and that includes the VAST knowledge of techniques, etiquette, skills, lingo, and procedure when it comes to climbing outside. It can be scary getting started and, literally, reaching new heights, especially without focused and trusted guidance, climbing buddies, and a safe and geared-up environment. Well, as always, we got you covered!
Camp of Rock was designed with the novice and nervous climber in mind. Have you mainly climbed inside? Have you maybe only gone once or twice, or even just bouldered? Have you taken an extended break from climbing and you're looking to get back to it for a refresher? Are you new in town and just want to get to know the area and people? Do you just want to hang out with cool women and be outside and have fun!? Camp of Rock is for you!
We have a packed syllabus planned, but we also budgeted lots of time to get to know each other, have fun, and explore! We hope you can join us for the first EVER Camp of Rock sponsored by our pals at Arc'teryx!
Rock (and climb) on!
Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish, BC) - exact locations will be shared closer to the camp date.
Please note: We are not actually overnight camping together! Participants have the option of doing so on their own, or with their own group, but we are just providing a day camp for both days.
Camp of Rock will run each day (August 17th and 18th - Saturday and Sunday) from 8a to 3:30p (clinics, climbing, and guided exercises) with optional early/mid evening activities like exploring more climbing areas (bouldering), shopping in town at Climb On (we have a special deal for you all!), brewery hopping, and more!
Thanks to our pals at Arc'teryx, we are able to offer Camp of Rock registration at a subsidized price <3 But hop on it quick to get the best price possible - The early bird gets a better deal!
We will send an intake form to Campers ahead of camp to gather all the necessary information about you and your needs! Just sit tight :)
We will have a WhatsApp group where we will arrange carpools for those that need rides! Feel free to email us directly if you are in need of transportation, and we will help you out!
Who is this camp for?
Women and gender-non-conforming people who are looking to learn how to climb ropes outside!
What skill level do I need to be to join?
Zero experience needed! We will teach belaying, etc. and if you already know that stuff, you won't be bored! We got you all covered :)
What is the capacity for the camp?
We have 18 spots available! We've limited the number of spots available so Kinley and her team can give us all focused attention.
I want to come solo! Is that okay?
Yes absolutely! You'll be in good company and we're confident you'll make fast friends with our Bad crew :)
Can I come with friends?
Of course! Coordinate within your crew about carpooling!
I'm not coming from Vancouver - is that okay?
Yes! Non-locals are totally welcome :) Squamish locals are also, of course, welcome! Please make sure to arrange your own accommodations.
Can we arrive early and/or stay late?
Absolutely. If you want to arrive earlier in Squamish, that's totally up to you! And if you want to stay late or stay in town, you are of course welcome.
What do we need to bring?
We will send a detailed packing list, but this is a basic list:
If you are facing financial barriers and do not have all the gear needed, we will help! Just shoot us a message :)
What's the food situation?
We will have iced drinks and snacks available for everyone! You will need to pack a lunch, and we'll go for drinks and food in town after each day together :)
What if I don't have a car?
We will be coordinating carpooling, so no worries if you need a ride! Feel free to email us if you need a lift and we'll make it happen.
I 'm a person with a disability and I have questions about how I can be accommodated.
We're totally available to answer your questions! Slide into our DM's or email us at hello@thebadacademy.com
Do you need volunteers?
We should be okay with help, but we'll let you know if we do! :)
I have an organization/company that would like to contribute to the Camp of Rock Swag Bag. How can we reach you?
Email us at hello@thebadacademy.com
What is the cancellation policy?
We unfortunately cannot offer refunds, but you are able to transfer your ticket at any time to a friend! Email us at hello@thebadacademy.com to coordinate.
Any other questions? Shoot us a message!
