New season, new outdoor activities! Come join Bad Academy and MEC as we celebrate the Fall solstice with an evening of learning, shopping, and community!
General Admission Tickets: $5 (1 raffle ticket included with admission, and general admission included with all clinics)
All workshops and clinics are for women and GNC people who are curious, not experienced, or experienced! All levels of knowledge are welcome :)
Anchor Building 101 (7:30-8:30p) $20 (incudes general admission)
Join Keenan Gibsons for a special hands-on demo on how to build climbing anchors! No experience needed. Meet at the climbing wall upstairs!
Paracord Keychain Making (7:30-9p) $30 (incudes general admission)
Your pack and chalk bag could use some cute decor, don't you think? Join us for an outdoor adjacent crafting workshop and walk away with your own handmade keychain! Workshop goes until 9p, but feel free to duck out earlier so you can partake in other evening events :)
Intro to Backcountry skiing (7:30 - 8:00p) $10 (incudes general admission)
Meet on the ground floor near the doors for a workshop for beginner/new back country skiers! Learn about beginner friendly routes, what kind of gear you need to have vs want to have, and basics of backcountry safety. No experience needed.
Bike Maintenance 101 (8:00 - 9:00) $10 (incudes general admission)
BYOB (Bring your own bike) for a safety check and to learn how to maintain your whip! What should you have in your home mechanic tool kit? How do you fix a flat tire? Need some hands-on break and derailer adjustments? What do you know about your drivetrain? Meet us at the Bike Shop to learn it all! No experience needed.
Training for the trails (9:00 - 9:30) $10 (incudes general admission)
Ready to start building your training plan for trail running this season? Come learn about nutrition on trail, beginner friendly routes, and progressions!
Meet on the second floor to the left of the stairs! No experience needed.
Climbing Gear 101 (9-10p) $15 (incudes general admission)
Ever walk into the Climbing department of MEC and immediately go cross-eyed? We got you covered! Come learn ALL THE THINGS about ALL THE CLIMBING THINGS! What are the best shoes for different types of climbing? What's the difference between a cam and a nut? What's the right kind of rope to have? Why does gear have expiration dates?! Meet Keenan at the climbing wall to learn about what you need to start climbing indoors, outdoors, and beyond! Bring your questions ;) No experience needed.
Intro to Winter Camping (9:30 -10:00) $10 (incudes general admission)
Head to the Tents Department to learn about transitioning your set up to accommodate colder temperatures and alpine conditions! We'll also talk about where to go camping this winter! No experience needed.
Just want to come look and shop around? It's the perfect night for that!
What if I want to attend multiple workshops?
Totally fine! Please buy admission for all the ones you want to attend (please note the timing) and make sure you tell us when you arrive and we'll make sure you get multiple raffle tickets :)
Can I come and not attend workshops or clinics?
Yes! Just come take a poke around!
Can men or masc people attend?
This event is for women and gnc people only, however, we will not turn people away as long as they've paid admission. We ask that everyone in attendance act accordingly and treat everyone with respect! Don't be a jerk please.
