About The Workshop

Dry Work Drop-In

Join us for our monthly meetup! Dry work only please!

Theme: Florals! We'll bring some flowers for people to use as reference, but get cretaive! Do you use flowers in your art? Do you want to use flowers in your art? You are not required to follow the theme we've laid out for the meetup, but we have received feedback that more structure is helpful for some :)

About the Bad Artists:

Amanda Kao (she/her) is a self-described Bad Artist living in so-called Vancouver. Amanda has been doing art badly since she was a kid. In her adolescence she took formal art classes and was bequeathed the prestigious senior high school superlative of "Most Artistic". She then went on to persue a career that had nothing to do with art mostly because she was scared to be bad at art (whatever that means). She recently rediscovered her love of painting and is experiencing a creative spurt at the tender age of 37. She often starts clubs like Bad Artists Club to keep herself accountable and to make other friends who are bad at things.

Ebony Jansen is a queer cis-female artist. She earned a BA in Art and Art History from Sheridan College and the University of Toronto Mississauga. She works primarily in print media, photography, and collage. Her artwork often focuses on finding humour, absurdity and playfulness in the simple moment of everyday life as inspired by Dadaist artists. Jansen has exhibited at the Gladstone Hotel’s Art Bar, Black Cat Artspace, the Blackwood Gallery among others. She has worked in publications at various institutions across the Greater Toronto Area, including the Art Gallery of Ontario, O’Born Contemporary, and the Living Arts Centre. She currently lives in Vancouver, British Columbia and daylights as a brewer of craft beer at House of Funk Brewing Co. Most recently her work was exhibited at the Museum Strathroy-Cardoc in the international exhibition Collagism: A Survey of Contemporary Collage. She will be part of the first 2025 collective show at S.L.I.C.E gallery in January.
