  • October 26, 2025 (Sunday) 9-12p

Hosted at Gallery 881 as part of the Tradeswomen Exhibit

Home is where the heart is... and the leaky faucet or faulty power outlet :( It's unavoidable. Whether you live in a free-standing house or an apartment, there are always little (and big) things here and there that need tweaking, updating, and fixing! And for those of us who rather not depend on a significant other or an absent landlord, what's a girl to do?

Put down that phone and tell your dad to stand down! Bad Academy is here to show you around the basics in this crash course on home maintenance! We've assembled the Baddest crew of trades women to tell it to you straight so you can save the headache and maybe even some cash by doing it yourself! In this exciting new workshop, you'll get to not only hear some tricks of the trade from our panel of passionate experts, but gain the confidence you've always needed to really kick back and relax in your own home <3

In this workshop we will cover:

  • Electrical 101: Breaker panels, labeling GFCI tests, and light bulbs (no, you're not the only one that has no idea what those numbers and letters mean!)
  • Plumbing 101: Shut-off valves, leak basics, under sink tools
  • A quick lesson on studs, walls, and mounting stuff
  • Safety 101: What inspectors look for during a walk-through, top 5 red flags, and a seasonal checklist for safety
  • Energy Efficiency: Draft-proofing basics, LED swaps, smart thermostats, and how to build a simple home emergency kit
  • A Q&A and more!

We will also be raffling off a pair of Keen shoes at each workshop!

Coffee and Tea provided, and check out the Tradeswomen Exhibit at the gallery while you're there!

Thank you to our amazing sponsor, Keen Utility for helping us make this workshop happen!

Refund Policy: Tickets are transferable, but unfortunately not refundable at The Bad Academy. We're a crazy small organization and operate on razor-thin margins, and as much as we'd like to account for life getting in the way, we have been burned too many times by no-shows, and last-minute refund requests etc. If you'd like to transfer your ticket to a friend, please email us at hello@thebadacademy.com with the name and email of the person taking your place, and we'll make sure to make the appropriate changes!
