In a modern world where it’s impossible not to think about money no matter your relationship status, we think it’s finally time to address the elephant in the room: Matters of the heart often matter to your wallet.
Do you know the actual cost of a break-up? What are the advantages of combining or separating your finances with your partner? How much should you save in case you need to leave? What if you make more than your partner and you break up? What if you’re in a common-law partnership, or what if you’re thinking of getting married? What if you’re too afraid to dive into the finance question with your partner?
All of these questions and more will be answered in this eye-opening and information-packed workshop! We hope you can join the Bad Academy and Vancity for a special workshop featuring an all-star panel of women who can answer those tricky questions that keep us up at night and how you can practically navigate love and money.
Panel will be followed by a live Q&A!
This workshop is by donation (Free admission is available to those who are unable to contribute due to financial barriers - Honor system, baddies!)

Panelists:
Leisha Murphy - She/Her - Partner and Mediator at Connect Family Law
As a family lawyer, I advise clients on property division, parenting, child support and spousal support. In particular, I specialize in creating workable and creative solutions for the division of businesses and trusts (including the tax implications of those divisions). This expertise carries over to my practice as a certified family law mediator. I also prepare marriage and cohabitation agreements dealing with business and property interests, family trusts and anticipated inheritances. As a result of seeing first-hand the difficulties faced by couples in a separation, I prepare marriage and cohabitation agreements with an eye to eliminating or decreasing acrimony should a separation occur in the future.
Luisa Ospina RCC ATR LPC - She/They - Co-founder of Collective Healing
Luisa Ospina (she/they) is a non-disabled, queer, white Latinx of mixed ethnic and racial ancestry, now-middle-class, immigrant, settler, woman, offering trauma counselling, facilitation, and consulting services on the unceded, ancestral, and traditional territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. She values accountability, transparency, and compassion. They integrate various trauma-informed, relational, client-centred approaches and intersectional feminist, anti-oppressive and social justice principles. Luisa’s analysis and approaches have been heavily influenced by Black and Indigenous feminists, and queer and critical race theories.
Adrianna St Denis - She/Her - Vancity Wealth Advisor
As a dedicated Wealth Advisor at Vancity, I specialize in helping members navigate their financial journey through meaningful, long-lasting relationships, and a focus on socially responsible investing. Through my role, I’m able to help our members realize and achieve their financial goals through fulsome, wholistic planning and investment advice.
My journey in the financial industry began in 2011, where I quickly recognized the potential of utilizing capital markets as a force for good. I hold a Bachelor of Business Administration from BCIT, and am currently obtaining my Chartered Investment Manager designation, before completing the Certified Financial Planning designation.
Originally born in Vancouver, I also had the pleasure of growing up in Melbourne, Australia, refining my love for a good coffee and bold red wine (upon legal drinking age, of course). I now reside in beautiful Chilliwack with my husband and two wonderful step-kids. Outside of work, I find joy in the kitchen, experimenting with new plant-based recipes, and practicing yoga. I am deeply passionate about sustainability, animal welfare, and gender equity, embodying my commitment to making a difference both professionally and personally.
