Bad Academy and Vancity are partnering up for another legendary finance series for 2025, but this time we’re confronting those big bad topics that often get swept under the rug! It’s hard enough juggling all of life’s many responsibilities and (often time) disruptive surprises, but when it comes to dealing with those pesky financial problems and questions, they often end up on the back burner. Are you finding yourself being avoidant of what’s happening on your bank statement? Are you confused about the many MANY acronyms thrown around in finance? What should you be prioritizing when it comes to getting on track financially? What actually is an RSP and why does it matter? We’ve enlisted a lineup of experts on the subjects that are going break it down step by step. The On the Money series is designed to dispel those toxic money rumors and myths, give you practical and direct ways to navigate your way through some tricky situations, and answer your burning questions you’ve always wanted to ask! Time to tackle those money scaries, Baddies!
ON DEBT
Is “debt” a four letter word? In this workshop, we’re going to explore the dreaded subject of debt and everything you need to know to navigate it! Why does debt exist? ON SAVING
A girl can’t walk outside her door without spending at least $50 these days, but all we ever hear from the little voice in the back of our mind is “YOu ShOuLD bE SaVing”. How practical is it to actually save in our modern times? What is an RSP and why do they exist? And for that matter, what are all these other savings accounts and vehicles? Which one is best for you? Why does saving even matter?! We want you to feel confident in your daily life with the money you have and where you put it, so let us guide you through the world of saving!
ON BUDGETING (with Brood)
Q: What’s the budget for [huge life event]?
A: Um. What budget?
Sound familiar? Budgets are often seen as restrictive, scary, and confusing. Life is unpredictable, so why is a budget even a thing?! We’re sitting down with budgeting queen Tina Cheung and our friends at Brood to chat about budgeting, especially for those thinking about a big life event like becoming a parent or growing a family. We can’t always plan for what life might throw at us, but there are actually practical and simples ways to build a system that works for you!

Refund Policy: Tickets are transferable, but unfortunately not refundable at The Bad Academy. We're a crazy small organization and operate on razor-thin margins, and as much as we'd like to account for life getting in the way, we have been burned too many times by no-shows, and last-minute refund requests etc. If you'd like to transfer your ticket to a friend, please email us at hello@thebadacademy.com with the name and email of the person taking your place, and we'll make sure to make the appropriate changes!
